Him: “Honey I’d have to rewire the thing to get it working again . Not to mention out of ALL the yard sales we’ve been to today this is the only lamp with most of a broken bulb remaining in the socket. ”
Her: “But it reminds me of that beach house we rented in Savannah that summer. We never did get out of the house much as I recall.”
Both share a knowing smile.
Him: “Are you sure this is the one?”
Her: “Yes but after 33 years I’m still considering my options with you…so don’t push your luck.”
Dear B.A.
I don’t think she was talking about lamps. 😉 Well scripted and believable dialogue. I enjoyed it.

Very good story. I’m glad they finally found the right lamp after all those years.
Thanks for reading and commenting patriciaruthsusan!
With a reminder of such a memory they must have that lamp – even if he is going to spend hours trying to get the broken bulb out!

I love Savannah! And this story was great. I love the cheekiness between the two. Flowed very nicely. (Oh and you can use a raw potato cut in half to get out one of those broken bulbs.) I am a vat of useless info. 😉
Thanks! Have you ever actually tried that potato trick? I always wind up using needle nose pliers later to remove mashed potatoes and the bulb guts 🙂
Hahaha no. But it always seemed so logical. That being said you know what they say about the best laid plans.
Fair enough 🙂 thanks again for reading and commenting!
Good story – and needle nosed pliers is the only way to go – you are right! Otherwise you do have a mess and if it’s plugged in – a deadly mess. Nice read! Nan
No truer words! Thanks for reading and commenting!
Ha hubby better watch himself! Great story
I think you’re right 🙂 Thanks for reading and commenting.
Awe, how sweet. Nicely done.
Thank you Good News for reading and commenting!
My pleasure.
Great light bulb moment. Helpful hint: If a light blub breaks off in a socket you can use a potato to remove it. I think I read that in the 70′s and have been waiting all this time to use it.
Yeah that trick never worked for me lol
That was sweet enjoyed reading it.
